Using a positive approach to making changes, Fifth Avenue Counseling & Consulting works with individuals, couples and adolescents and families to define problems and to develop workable solutions. We help our clients define and then meet their counseling goals with the idea that change is based on client strengths and capacity making changes. Our services can be billed to insurance or Employee Assistance Programs in many cases.
Fifth Avenue counselors are Licensed Professional Counselors and State Registered Interns. We are committed to effective treatment and rapid response: all counseling requests are accommodated within 72 hours. We also gladly coordinate our services with physicians or other professionals involved in our clients lives.
We help adults to:

- Have clear and realistic expectations for parents and for parents to also have clear and realistic expectations for their adolescents
- Learn to be more optimistic
- Set goals and achieve them
- Improve mood, attitude or behavior
- Manage grief, crisis or loss
- Improve problem solving skills and behavior
- Improve success in relationships with peers, teachers and family members
- Improve enjoyment and happiness in everyday life
- Manage impulsiveness, restlessness or problems with attention
- Adapt to disabilities
We help families to:
- Improve family and parent/child relationships
- Teach families to plan, set goals and meet goals
- Decrease conflicts and improve communications
- Correct maladaptive behaviors and attitudes
- Problem solve and reduce stress
- Handle difficult situations e.g. divorce, crisis, loss
